Bradley beats Illinois State 56-52
PEORIA, Ill. (AP)—Theron Wilson and Chris Roberts each scored 12 points to lead Bradley to a 56-52 win over previously undefeated Illinois State on Tuesday.
Bradley (10-5, 4-0 Missouri Valley) held Illinois State (14-1, 3-1) to 25 points under its scoring average.
The Braves led 30-21 at halftime and led by as many as 14 early in the second half. A 6-0 run pulled the Redbirds to 45-39 with about seven minutes left, but the Braves’ foul shots and stingy defense ended the comeback.
The Braves sank 11-of-13 free throws, while the Redbirds were 2-of-4.
Osiris Eldridge led Illinois State with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Dinma Odiakosa added 12 and Emmanuel Holloway chipped in 10.
Tuesday’s crowd of 11,592 was the second-largest in Bradley’s history, university officials said. The largest was 11,597 last year against Michigan State.
