Long Beach State beats Cal Poly, 70-57
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP)—Greg Plater scored a season-high 15 points to lead Long Beach State to a 70-57 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Sunday.
Plater made three 3-pointers during a 14-0 run in the final 2:07 of the first half to erase a 12-point deficit. His 3-pointer with 5 seconds left in the half gave the 49’ers (7-7, 2-0 Big West Conference) a 32-20 lead at the break.
Plater’s 3-pointer with 9:36 left in the game gave Long Beach State a 55-40 lead. The Mustangs never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
Stephan Gilling scored 14 points and Cornell Williams, Brian Freeman and TJ Robinson each had seven rebounds for the 49’ers.
Chaz Thomas had a game-high 17 points David Henson had 11 rebounds for Cal Poly (3-9, 0-2). Lorenzo Keeler and Titus Shelton each had 10 points for the Mustangs.
Long Beach State shot 50 percent in the second half and outrebounded the Mustangs 40-37 for the game.
