SC-Upstate beats North Florida 69-64

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP)—Bobby Davis scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead South Carolina-Upstate to a 69-64 win over North Florida on Saturday.

Davis, who had 10 offensive rebounds, made 14 of his 16 free throws and shot 5 of 9 from the field for the Spartans (2-10, 1-2 Atlantic Sun Conference). Josh Chavis scored 13 points and Nick Schneiders added 11.

S.C.-Upstate took a 59-42 lead with 5:39 left in second half after Mezie Uzochukwu’s free throw.

The Ospreys (2-11, 0-3) scored 10 straight points, trimming the margin down to seven points with 2:49 remaining on a 3-pointer by Cameron Lovelace, who finished with 11 points. Stan Januska made a jumper to cut the lead to 62-58 with 44 seconds left in the game.

But North Florida pulled no closer as Chavis made two free throws to help S.C.-Upstate seal the victory.

Cortez Riley scored 17 points for North Florida.
