N.J. Tech 47, Vermont 73
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP)—Junior Marqus Blakely scored 15 points and added nine rebounds to lead Vermont to a 73-47 victory over New Jersey Institute of Technology in men’s college basketball Saturday.
The Catamounts have won five of their last six and improve to 9-4 on the year.
NJIT (0-14, Independent) lead 4-2 early before the Cats responded with 14 straight to go on top for good.
Vermont led by as many as 24 in the first half and took a 46-22 lead into the break. Vermont shot 59.3 percent in the opening half, with Blakely leading all scorers with 11 points.
In the second half NJIT used an 8-0 run to cut it to 17 at 57-40 after a three by Gary Garris with 8:36 to go, but that would be as close as the Highlanders would get.
