Benn powers Niagara past Manhattan, 93-74
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP)—Junior forward Bilal Benn recorded 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead Niagara to a 93-74 win over Manhattan Saturday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center.
Niagara (11-3, 2-0 MAAC) also got 18 points from Rob Garrison. Benson Egemonye added 16 points and 5 blocked shots. Tyrone Lewis and Kashief Edwards added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Manhattan (7-6, 1-2 MAAC) was led by Chris Smith and Devon Austin with each scoring 16 points. The team, which suffered its third-straight loss, also got 10 points from Darryl Crawford.
Niagara closed the first half with a 23-18 run to take a 58-49 halftime lead. Then Niagara opened the second half with a 14-2 run for a 72-51 lead as Garrison scored seven. Manhattan missed its first seven shots from the field in the second half before scoring at 15:43.
