R.J. Rutledge and Travis Taylor both came off the bench to score 13 points each for the Hawks (3-12, 1-2 Northeast Conference), who forced Sacred Heart into 21 turnovers overall and held the Pioneers without a basket for the final 7:35 of the first half.
Ryon Howard had 14 points and eight rebounds for Sacred Heart (4-8, 2-1), while Shane Gibson added 11 points and Joey Henley finished with 10.
Monmouth was in command for most of the game and led 42-29 at the break. Sacred Heart then tried to rally early in the second half, but they could not overcome the Hawks defense and Monmouth maintained double-digit leads for most of the half.
