N.C.-Wilmington 60, George Mason 101
Fairfax, Va. (AP)—John Vaughan scored 20 points and George Mason used an 18-0 second half run to defeat UNC-Wilmington 101-60 in the Patriots’ Colonial Athletic Association home opener on Saturday night.
Vaughan hit five 3-pointers to pace five players in double figures as the Patriots (9-3, 2-0) put the game away by outscoring the Seahawks 32-6 to open the second half. George Mason shot 62 percent from the field and 57 percent on 3-pointers in winning for the 19th time in their last 20 home games.
Freshmen reserves Ryan Pearson and Mike Morrison each had 13 points to pace a Patriots’ bench that contributed 49 points. George Mason eclipsed 100 points for the first time since a 104-99 win over William & Mary on Feb. 2, 2005.
The loss was the eighth straight for the Seahawks (3-11, 0-2), who were led by Chad Tomko’s 15 points.
