Campbell beats Mercer 72-57
BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP)—Jonathan Rodriguez scored 19 points as Campbell defeated Mercer 72-57 on Saturday.
Rodriguez shot 6-for-14 from the field, and added 13 rebounds for the Camels (4-8, 1-2 Atlantic Sun Conference). Miles Taylor scored 15 and Junard Hartley added 13 points and 12 assists.
James Florence finished with 15 points and seven steals for the Bears (7-7, 1-2). E.J. Kusnyer chipped in with 11 points, while Daniel Emerson added nine points and 20 rebounds.
Campbell shot 55.6 percent from 3-point range (5-for-9) in the first half, and held a 30-26 lead at halftime. The Camels went on a 9-2 run in the second half to take a 50-40 lead with 11:01 remaining. Mercer failed to get any closer than six, and were outscored 13-6 over the final three minutes.
Campbell finished with 19 team assists, and shot 40.6 percent from the floor (23-for-57).
