Gadley leads Canisius past Maine 56-43
ORONO, Maine (AP)—Chris Gadley had 18 points and 25 rebounds to lead Canisius to a 56-43 victory over Maine on Tuesday night.
Canisius (5-7) led 24-23 at the half, then scored the first 11 points after the break. Seven of those points came from Julius Coles, who finished with 15.
Maine, losing its fourth straight game, never caught up. The Black Bears got as close as 43-37 with 7:54 to go on an 11-2 run, six by Mark Socoby. Socoby led Maine (5-8) with 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Golden Griffins shot 35 percent from the floor while Maine shot 28 percent. Canisius outrebounded Maine 50-37, and the 25 by Gadley was one shy of the school record..
Maine started the game with a 7-1 lead, but Canisius pulled even at 16, and took the lead at half.
