DAVIS, Calif. (AP)—Mark Payne had a season-high 17 points and six rebounds, Vince Oliver added 15 points and UC Davis ended its non-conference schedule with a 72-41 win over Dartmouth on Tuesday night.

The Aggies led the entire way, building a 29-point advantage in the second half to win for only the third time in the last seven games. Joe Harden had 10 points and four rebounds for UC Davis (5-8), which opens the Big West Conference at Cal State-Northridge on Jan. 5.

The 31-point win was the Aggies biggest since opening last season with a 97-55 win over La Verne.

Nick Barnett scored 14 points and was the only Dartmouth player to make a basket in the first half. The Big Green (2-9) missed 20 of their first 25 shots, committed a season-worst 27 turnovers and went nearly nine minutes without scoring in the second half while losing their fourth straight.

Payne had 14 points and four rebounds in the first half when UC Davis took control early. Payne had eight of his points during a 17-4 run midway through the half then scored on a fastbreak layup just before the buzzer sounded to give the Aggies a 39-18 halftime lead.

Dartmouth, which was held to a season-low 21.3 percent shooting in a 22-point loss to Air Force in the Golden Bear Classic on Saturday, didn’t find its rhythm offensively against UC Davis. The Big Green shot just 20 percent in the first half while going 7 of 17 from the free throw line.

Barnett was the only Big Green player with a basket in the first half. The senior forward was 5 of 9 from the floor but the rest of the team went 0-for-16.

The Aggies led 42-28 early in the second half before going on a 17-0 run to take a 21-point lead.
