Appalachian State routs Milligan 112-47
BOONE, N.C. (AP)—Ryann Abraham and Donald Sims scored 17 points apiece to lead Appalachian State to a 112-47 rout of Milligan and a school record for margin of victory Tuesday night.
The Mountaineers (5-4), who jumped out to a 61-19 halftime lead, set a Holmes Center record for points, eclipsing the previous mark of 109. The previous record for margin of victory was 64 points, set in a 112-48 win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Dec. 30, 1999.
The Buffaloes, an NAIA Division II school counting the game as an exhibition, shot just 18.5 percent from the field (6 of 32) in the first half and 23.4 percent for the game (15 of 64).
Appalachian State hit 10 of 18 3-pointers in the first half and outrebounded Milligan 58-26.
Josh Hunter, Donterious Hughes and Jeremi Booth added 11 points apiece for the Mountaineers.
Tyler Estepp led Milligan (8-4) with 13 points.
