Fresno St. rallies to force OT, beats Cal Poly
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)—Dwight O’Neil and freshman Bryce Cartwright scored 20 points apiece as Fresno State rallied to force overtime Monday night in a 90-87 victory over Cal Poly.
Freshman George Paul had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Sylvester Seay added 12 points and 10 boards for the Bulldogs (7-7), who trailed by 13 in the first half and 11 early in the second. They took their first lead of the game with 1:52 to play on a pair of free throws from O’Neil.
O’Neil later made a 3-pointer with 11 seconds to play to put Fresno up 76-73, but it was answered by a 3 from Cal Poly’s Chaz Thomas with 1.8 seconds left to force overtime.
The Bulldogs took the lead for good on a layup from Paul with 2:41 to go in the extra period. They outscored Cal Poly (3-7) 14-11 in overtime.
Titus Shelton led the Mustangs with 21 points.
