Trapani and Rice carry BC to win over USF
BOSTON (AP)—Joe Trapani scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Boston College to its eighth straight win, 84-62 over San Francisco on Monday night.
Tyrese Rice scored 21 points, Corey Raji 16 and Reggie Jackson 13 for the Eagles (11-2), who have one more non-conference game before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play at No. 1 North Carolina on Jan. 4.
Dior Lowhorn paced San Francisco (7-7) with 18 points and Manny Quezada had 17. The Dons, who played nine of their 10 December games on the road, have lost six of seven.
BC led 42-29 at halftime before USF scored 10 of the first 12 second-half points to pull to 44-39.
The Dons closed it to 54-48 on Dontae Bryant’s trey with 12:09 to play. Then Trapani scored all of the points—the final ones coming on a 3 with 10:40 to play—in BC’s 7-1 spurt that helped push the Eagles ahead safely.
