HONOLULU (AP)—Marcus Walker scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half and Colorado State rallied to beat host Hawaii Saturday in the first round of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.
The Rams (4-8) shot 56 percent from the field and outscored the Rainbow Warriors (6-4) 40-22 in the final 20 minutes. It was the first home loss in seven games for Hawaii.
Hawaii struggled offensively, shooting just 32 percent (17 of 52) from the field for the game, including just 2 of 15 (13 percent) on 3-point attempts.
Colorado State used an 8-2 run to open the second half and took a 42-38 lead, which it would not relinquish. Willis Gardner had 14 points, Travis Franklin added 13 and Dan Vandervieren 10 for the Rams.
Hawaii?s Roderick Flemings led all scorers with 22 points.
Colorado State plays Vermont Monday in the semifinal round while Hawaii meets George Washington in the consolation bracket.
