Benson scores 16 in 82-68 Texas State win
SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP)—Brent Benson came off the bench to score 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Texas State to a 82-68 victory over Prairie View on Sunday.
Benson made his first 3-pointer early in the first-half and kept shooting the rest of the way. Brandon Bush scored 14 for the Bobcats (4-6), Cameron Johnson scored 13 and John Rybak added 11. The Bobcats made only 37 percent of their shots, but were 10-of-23 from 3-point range.
Christopher Jones was the high scorer for Prairie View (3-9) with 17 points. Darnell Hugee joined him as the only other Panther to score in double figures with 14 points.
