Unbeaten Illinois St. beats Cent. Mich. 72-69
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Osiris Eldridge had 18 points as Illinois State remained unbeaten after a 72-69 win over Central Michigan on Wednesday.
The Redbirds (10-0) never led in the first half, trailing 29-28 at halftime, but established their first lead early in the second half behind a pair of dunks from Dinma Odiakosa, who had 12 of his 16 points in the half.
Central Michigan (3-6) led by as many as nine points in the game and 45-38 with 14:09 to play. A 9-0 run gave Illinois State a 55-50 lead with 7:14 remaining that it would not relinquish.
Robbie Harman had 21 points on seven 3-pointers to lead Central Michigan. Jacolby Hardiman added 17 points for the Chippewas while Marcus Van had eight points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks.
Lloyd Phillips had 15 points for Illinois State and Brandon Sampay added 11.
