Smith leads Manhattan to 70-60 win over Princeton
NEW YORK (AP)—Sophomore guard Chris Smith scored a career-high 35 points to lead Manhattan to a 70-60 victory over Princeton University on Sunday.
Antoine Pearson added 13 points for the Jaspers (5-3), while center Herve Banogle had eight points on 4-of-4 shooting and grabbed six rebounds.
Banogle has not missed a shot at Draddy Gym all season, going 10-for-10 from the field.
Freshman Doug Davis led Princeton (2-6) with 27 points and Pawel Buczak added 15.
Smith, the younger brother of J.R. Smith of the Denver Nuggets, was 12-for-17 from the field, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.
Smith had 18 points and the Jaspers shot 56 percent from the field in taking a 33-26 halftime lead. Manhattan was 23-for-46 for the game.
Jason Briggs had 11 rebounds for the Tigers, who had a 33-25 advantage on the boards.
