Missouri St. holds off Cent. Ark. 63-46
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)—Wade Knapp scored 14 points to help Missouri State hold off Central Arkansas for a 63-46 win Saturday night.
Central Arkansas (4-4) scored just 11 first-half points and trailed Missouri State (5-3) 34-13 with 17:26 left in the game after back-to-back 3-pointers by Missouri State’s Ryan Jehle and a basket by Cardell McFarland.
Central Arkansas responded with a 10-0 run to trail 34-23 with 13:15 left.
Two baskets by Kyle Weems gave Missouri State a 39-23 lead with 12:04, left but Central Arkansas came back with a 16-6 run to cut the margin to 45-39 with just over 6 minutes remaining.
But Missouri State came back with a 13-5 run that included back-to-back baskets by Knapp and a 3-pointer by Spencer Laurie with 2:29 left to lead 56-43.
Central Arkansas scored just one basket in the last 3:55 and finished the game shooting 35.8 percent from the field, including 7.7 percent from the 3-point line on 1-of-13 shooting.
Justin Fuehrmeyer scored 12 for Missouri State and Jehle finished with 10.
Mike Pouncy and Brooks Taylor each had 12 for Central Arkansas, Mitch Rueter had 10 and Brian Marks had 12 rebounds.
