Hofstra wins eighth straight, 68-52
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP)—Charles Jenkins had 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead Hofstra to its eighth straight victory, 68-52 over St. Francis, N.Y. on Saturday.
Cornelius Vines added 13 points for the Pride (8-1), who lost their season opener to Clemson in a tournament at Charleston, S.C.
Kayode Ayeni had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Nigel Byam added 13 points for the Terriers (3-6).
Ayeni’s jumper gave St. Francis a 14-12 lead with 12:50 left in the first and the Pride went on 11-0 run that was closed out by Jenkins’ 3-pointer that made it 23-14 with 8:55 to go.
Hofstra led by as many as 21 points, 63-42 on Dane Johnson’s free throw with 4:26 to go.
