BYU downs Boise State 94-56

PROVO, Utah (AP)—Jimmer Fredette scored a career-high 23 points on a mixture of layups and long jumpers as BYU routed Boise State 94-56 Wednesday night.

Fredette closed the first half with two of his eight layups to give BYU (9-0) the lead and spark a rally that stretched the nation’s longest home court winning streak to 52 games.

Aaron Garner led Boise State (6-2) with a career-high 19 points, 17 in the first half.

BYU got 20 points from Lee Cummard, 14 from Jackson Emery and 13 from Jonathan Tavernari. James Anderson added 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks, all career highs.

Garner’s 13-4 run erased an early 11-point BYU lead. His long, fallaway jumper late in the first half gave Boise State its second and final lead at 29-27.

Fredette’s layups gave BYU a 33-29 halftime lead. He scored 11 more in the first 10 minutes of the second half to fuel a 51-11 Cougar rally.
