N.J. Tech 54, St. John’s 82
NEW YORK (AP)—Paris Horne was 7-of-9 from the field and scored 18 points to lead St. John’s to an 82-54 victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Monday night, the Highlanders’ 41st consecutive loss.
Justin Burrell had 14 points and Malik Boothe added 11 for the Red Storm (7-1).
Justin Garris had 12 points for the Highlanders (0-8), who went 0-29 last season.
The game was delayed for 35 minutes with 16:51 to play when Burrell’s attempted dunk snapped off a piece of the rim. The Red Storm led 52-27 at the time of the delay.
St. John’s scored the first eight points of the game. Two free throws by Garris got the Highlanders within 12-7 with 13:39 to go, but St. John’s went on an 8-1 run that was capped by a 3-pointer by Burrell with 10:59 left.
The Red Storm led 42-23 at halftime.
