Fordham beats Lafayette 79-58
NEW YORK (AP)—Chris Bethel had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Fordham ended the worst start in the program’s history with a 79-58 victory over Lafayette on Monday night.
Mike Moore added 17 points and Brenton Butler and Jio Fontan each had 13 for the Rams (1-6). The worst previous start in Fordham’s 102 seasons of basketball was 0-4.
Reserve guard Jim Mower had 14 points for the Leopards (2-6), who have lost six straight.
Bethel, who was 8-of-11 from the field, had seven points in a 17-6 run that gave Fordham a 19-8 lead with 10:20 to go in the first half. The Rams went on to lead 43-23 at halftime.
Moore was 3-for-4 from 3-point range.
