LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP)—Mike Ringgold scored 20 points to lead Rider to a 76-73 win over Manhattan on Sunday.
Lamar Johnson came off the bench to add 16 points for the Broncs (4-2, 1-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), including two key late free throws, while Harris Mansell finished with 14 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Devon Austin had a game-high 24 points to lead the Jaspers (4-3, 1-1), while Antoine Pearson added 19 points and Andrew Gabriel had 14 points and eight rebounds.
The teams traded baskets for most of the first half, with Manhattan holding a 34-31 lead at the break. The Jaspers maintained their lead until Rider went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half to take the lead for good.
The Jaspers, though, fought back and eventually cut the lead to 74-73 on Pearson’s 3-pointer with seven seconds left to play. Pearson then fouled Johnson, who hit two free throws to seal the win.
