Alabama A&M knocks off Tuskegee 80-73

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Trant Simpson scored 27 of his game-high 35 points in the second half to lead Alabama A&M to an 80-73 victory over Tuskegee on Saturday night.

Simpson went 7 of 10 from the field and 12 of 12 from the free throw line in the second half as the Bulldogs (1-3) overcame a 44-33 halftime deficit.

He scored 10 of Alabama A&M’s 12 points as the Bulldogs went from a 62-55 deficit to a 67-62 lead with 5:09 remaining. His layup with 5:44 left gave the Bulldogs a 63-62 lead—their first since a 5-4 advantage 2:04 into the game.

Simpson made all eight of his attempts in the final 1:49.

Jonathan Inman added 10 points for Alabama A&M, while John Smith had nine points and eight rebounds.

Antoine Ware led Tuskegee (0-2) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Keith Flourney added 14 points and Andrae Nelson scored 12 points for the Tigers.
