Liberty defeats Gardner-Webb 68-59
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP)—Anthony Smith scored a game-high 27 points to lead Liberty to a 68-59 win against Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
Smith was 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and grabbed seven rebounds for the Flames (6-1, 1-1 Big South Conference). Seth Curry added 15 points and Kyle Ohman grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Flames shot 45.3 percent from the field (24 of 53) in the game compared to a 37.9 percent mark (22 of 58) for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Grayson Flittner led Gardner-Webb (2-5, 1-1) with 15 points and Jonathan Moore added 14.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs took a 35-33 lead into halftime, but the Flames started the second on a 15-8 run that marked their biggest lead of the game so far with more than 11 minutes to play
