Wis-Green Bay beats winless Wright St
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—Randy Berry and Mike Schachtner scored 13 points each to lead Wisconsin-Green Bay to a 57-46 victory over Wright State in a Horizon League opener for both teams Thursday night.
Green Bay held Wright State to 33.3 percent shooting from the field but didn’t do much better itself, making just 34.2 percent.
The Phoenix (4-2) made up for it by sinking 27 of 32 free throws to win a fourth straight game.
Cory Cooperwood, shutout in the first half because of foul trouble, had 14 points to lead Wright State (0-5).
It took Green Bay more than seven minutes to score its first basket, but Berry kept the Phoenix in the game from the foul line. The Phoenix then pulled away to a 33-19 halftime lead with a 20-2 run, holding the Raiders without a basket for about nine minutes.
