Longwood rallies to beat James Madison 79-76
FARMVILLE, Va. (AP)—Ryan Bogan scored 24 points as Longwood rallied to beat James Madison 79-76 on Wednesday night.
The Lancers (5-4), who were behind by as many as 13 with 9:45 left in the game, later turned a 69-61 deficit into a 74-69 lead for the winning rally.
Bogan scored eight points during the 13-0 run, giving Longwood its best start since the 2002-03 season.
The Dukes (4-3) attempted to regain the lead as Pierre Curtis hit three free throws to bring the score to 78-76 with 6 seconds to go. Kevin Swecker then hit a free throw to bring the lead back to three points for the Lancers.
With time expiring, Julius Wells missed a 3-pointer for James Madison, preventing the tie.
Dana Smith added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Longwood.
James Madison was led by Curtis with 16 points, followed by Wells and Kyle Swanston with 13 each.
