Charleston Southern defeats High Point 62-52
HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP)—Jamarco Warren scored 29 points to lead Charleston Southern to a 62-52 victory over High Point on Monday night in both teams’ conference opener.
Charleston Southern (4-3, 1-0 Big South Conference) went on a 14-2 run with 15:55 left and led by as many as 18 points in the second half.
Both teams were plagued by poor shooting in the first half, with High Point (2-4, 0-1) leading 19-17 at the break.
Charleston Southern made only 6 of 30 field goals in the first half (20 percent), but improved to 15 of 27 (55.6 percent) in the second. The Panthers made 8 of 25 shots (32 percent) in the first half and 13 of 29 (44.8 percent) in the second.
Omar Carter added 14 points for the Buccaneers and Kelvin Martin had 13 rebounds.
Earnest Bridges led the Panthers with 15 points and David Singleton added 11.
