UC-Santa Barbara downs Nicholls State 57-38

NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—James Powell had 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and Chris Devine added eight points and nine rebounds to lead UC-Santa Barbara to a 57-38 over Nicholls State in the World Vision Invitational on Saturday.

UC-Santa Barbara (3-3) led 30-23 going into the break and continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring Nicholls State (1-3) 27-15 in the second period. UC-Santa Barbara also led on the boards, grabbing 36 rebounds to Nicholls State’s 24.

Nicholls State had no players in the double-digits, but was led by starting guard Fred Hunter with nine points. Anatoly Bose came off the bench with a team-leading six rebounds.

Nicholls State shot 40.9 percent from the field in the first half of the game, but slipped in the second period, shooting just 17.6 percent.

Ryan Bathie and Chris Iles each had a pair of 3-pointers for Nicholls State.
