Marist ekes out a win over New Hampshire, 63-61
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP)—Ryan Schneider drained three free throws in the final 12 seconds to help Marist fend off a late 17-3 run and beat New Hampshire on Saturday, 63-61.
David Devezin led Marist (2-3, 0-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) with 19 points and three assists in a slugfest that featured 45 total personal fouls and only 43 combined field goals. The Red Foxes turned the ball over 21 times to New Hampshire’s 10.
Schneider finished with eight points and 12 rebounds. Lawrence Williams added 15 points and eight rebounds for Marist.
New Hampshire (1-3, 0-0 American East) shot only 4-for-26 (15.4%) from behind the 3-point arc. Alvin Abreu was the only Wildcats player in double figures, scoring 22 points.
