Liberty tops William & Mary 80-74 in 2OT
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP)—Anthony Smith scored 22 points and Seth Curry had 13 of his 21 points in overtime to lift Liberty to an 80-74 double-overtime victory over William & Mary on Saturday night.
The Flames (4-1) won the championship game of the Liberty Thanksgiving Classic by outscoring the Tribe 9-3 in the second overtime. After opening the period with a 3-pointer by David Schneider, William & Mary missed its next six shots—four from 3-point range.
Curry scored on two jumpers, then his dunk with 3 seconds left sealed the win.
William & Mary outrebounded the Flames 49-38, but also committed more fouls. Liberty was 23 of 32 from the free-throw line while the Tribe was only 7-of-9.
Schneider and Danny Sumner each scored 23 points for William & Mary.
