UC Riverside beats Colgate 54-44
HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP)—Aaron Scott scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading UC Riverside to a 54-44 win over Colgate on Saturday.
Jesse LoBue added 9 points for the Highlanders (4-1), and Brandon Dowdy chipped in 7.
Anthony Hill led the Raiders (2-2) with nine points, while Mike Venezia and Yaw Gyawu added seven apiece.
Riverside opened with a 10-4 run to gain an early lead. The Raiders came within three points with at 4:35 in the first half, but the Highlanders scored two 3-pointers in a row for a 23-15 halftime lead.
Riverside led by as many as 17 points in the second half. Colgate fought back to cut the Highlanders’ advantage to six with 59 seconds left on the clock, but Riverside went 6-6 on the free throw line sealing the win.
The Raiders shot 40 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent from three point range. Riverside went 17-50 on 34 percent shooting, while outrebounding Colgate 39-15 in the game.
