MUNCIE, Ind. (AP)—Eric McKinney had 20 points and 16 rebounds as Arkansas State rallied to beat Ball State 54-53 on Saturday afternoon.
JeJuan Brown added 11 points and six rebounds for the Red Wolves (4-1).
Brandon Lampley scored 18 points and Anthony Newell added 16 points for Ball State (3-2), though Newell shot just 5-for-15 from the field.
Ball State led 32-27 at halftime and led by as many as nine points in the second half before the Red Wolves began chipping away at the lead.
Brown made a layup with 1:30 to play to give Arkansas State its first lead of the second half. Newell had a chance to tie the game, but he missed the second of two free throws with 20 seconds left, and Ball State never scored again.
