Williams leads SE Missouri State to 81-77 win
LAS VEGAS (AP)—Calvin Williams scored a career high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Southeast Missouri State beat Longwood 81-77 Friday in the third round of the Las Vegas invitational tournament.
Kenard Moore added 18 points for the Redhawks (2-3), who won despite blowing a 12-point lead in the last nine minutes.
Dana Smith led Longwood (3-4) with a career high 26 points and nine rebounds. Durann Neil added 14 points and Kevin Swecker scored 10 points for the Lancers.
Trailing 67-55, Longwood went on a 14-2 run to tie it at 69 with 3:33 remaining. Southeast Missouri State scored the next five points to go ahead for good.
Longwood had a chance to tie in final 30 seconds, but the Redhawks’ Bijon Jones forced a jump ball as Ryan Bogan was driving to the hoop.
Jaycen Harning and Johnny Hill each had 11 points apiece for Southeast Missouri State. The Redhawks led 45-36 at intermission and never trailed in the second half.
