LSU tops Centenary 64-58
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—Chris Johnson scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead LSU to a 64-58 win over Centenary on Friday night.
Johnson shot 6-for-14 from the field, and also added three blocks in the LSU Invitational
The Tigers (4-0) also received help from Tasmin Mitchell, who had 10 points and six rebounds.
Centenary (1-5) was led by Nick Stallings, who totaled 17 points and seven rebounds. Chase Adams contributed for the Gents with 16 points and nine rebounds.
LSU held a 34-22 advantage at halftime. In the second half, the Tigers went on a 14-3 run to take a 61-37 lead with 5:44 to go. Centenary then outscored LSU 21-3 over the remainder of the game with the Tigers’ starters out of the contest.
LSU outrebounded Centenary 40-33, and also blocked nine shots as a team.
