UMKC defeats Fla. Gulf Coast 73-69
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP)—Reggie Hamilton scored 22 points as Missouri-Kansas City held off Florida Gulf Coast 73-69 on Wednesday night.
Hamilton made two free throws with 2.5 seconds left to seal the win for the Kangaroos (3-4), who had rallied from a 38-29 halftime deficit in the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
Florida Gulf Coast (1-4) jumped out to a 12-0 lead thanks to Delvin Franklin, who scored five of his 10 points during the run.
The Eagles hit 23 of 58 shots (39.7 percent) while Missouri-Kansas City hit 22 of 51 (43.1 percent), including 10 of 24 3-pointers.
Dane Brumagin added 17 points for the Kangaroos, while Latreze Mushatt had 14 points.
Reed Baker had 17 points for the Eagles, 13 in the first half. Kyle Marks and Derrick O’Neil added 12 points for the host Eagles, who went 0-3 in the tournament.
