Wyoming holds onto 97-96 win over Texas State

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP)—Brandon Ewing scored 27 points and Tyson Johnson added 22 to help Wyoming hold onto a 97-96 win over Texas State on Wednesday night.

Adam Waddell and Afam Muojeke finished with 16 points apiece for the Cowboys (4-0).

Wyoming seemed to have control of the game in the final seconds—leading 97-93 with 4.5 seconds remaining. But Texas State’s Brent Benson hit a 3-pointer and was fouled. He had a chance to tie the game, but his free throw came up empty.

Benson, who was 9-of-13 from 3-point range, finished with a game-high 32 points for Texas State (2-2). Brandon Bush added 22 points, and Cameron Johnson chipped in 11.
