Hampton defeats Alaska-Anchorage 69-61
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP)—Jonathan Ntoko scored 10 points off the bench and Hampton beat Alaska-Anchorage 69-61 Wednesday night in the opening round of the Carrs-Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
The Pirates (2-2) led for all but the first 3 minutes of the game and built a 47-31 cushion in the second half.
The Seawolves (0-4) closed to 51-46 with 6:33 left, but Jordan Brooks hit a pair of 3-pointers to push the lead back to 57-48 and Alaska-Anchorage got no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Brooks and Michael Freeman led Hampton with 11 points each.
Brandon Walker paced Alaska-Anchorage with 23 points and Jeremiah Trueman added 21.
