Dowdy leads Riverside past Occidental 62-34
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP)—Brandon Dowdy scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half as UC Riverside routed Division III Occidental 62-34 Tuesday.
Dowdy was 4-of-6 from 3-point range in the second half as Riverside (3-1) extended a 19-point halftime lead.
The Highlanders dominated from the start, and broke the game open in the first half with 15 unanswered points.
Javon Borum scored 12 points and Bryson Hampton added nine points and nine rebounds for the Highlanders.
Henry Meier led the Tigers (2-2) with 12 points.
Riverside extended its win streak to three games—its longest since 2003. The 34 points allowed was also the lowest since Riverside became a full-time Division I program in 2001-2002.
