Washington St. defeats Canisius 67-41
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP)—Taylor Rochestie scored 17 points as Washington State beat Canisius College 67-41 Tuesday night.
Freshman Klay Thompson added 15 points for Washington State(4-0) and Daven Harmeling contributed 10.
Chris Gadley, who averages 17.5 points per game and 10 rebounds for Canisius (1-3), was limited to 13 points and shut out on the boards.
Canisius stayed with the Cougars for the first five minutes of the game, but that would be the last time the Golden Griffins would come close. Canisius scored just 15 points in the first half, with nine of those coming in the first five minutes.
In the second half, Washington State forced the Golden Griffins to shoot from the outside.
Canisius shot 30.8 percent for the game while Washington State shot 42.4 percent.
The Cougars outrebounded Canisius 44-27 and forced 18 turnovers.
