East Carolina beats Va. Commonwealth 93-90
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP)—Darrius Morrow hit a free throw to give East Carolina the deciding lead in overtime, and Brock Young hit two more with 10 seconds remaining to help seal the Pirates’ 93-90 win against Virginia Commonwealth on Tuesday night.
The Pirates (4-1) outscored the Rams (2-2) 11-8 in overtime.
James Legan led the Pirates with 20 points, Sam Hinnant added 18 and Young chipped in 17 and dished-out 11 assists.
Eric Maynor led the Rams with a game-high 35 points, and Larry Sanders added 16 points and 14 rebounds.
East Carolina, who came back from a 37-33 halftime deficit, shot 50.7 percent (34 of 67) from the field compared to a 41.6 mark (32 of 77) for the Rams.
