Buchberger, Lehigh defeat St. Francis, Pa., 61-56

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP)—Dave Buchberger hit three 3-pointers, all six of his free throws and scored 15 points, leading Lehigh to a 61-56 victory over St. Francis, Pa., on Monday night.

Zahir Carrington added 12 points for Lehigh (3-1), which shot 9-for-13 from 3-point range.

Devin Sweetney led St. Francis, Pa. (1-4), with 12 points. The Red Flash struggled with their shooting, hitting 17 of 42 shots and managing just 4-for-15 shooting from 3-point range.

Lehigh led by six points, 28-22, at halftime and broke the game open early in the second half as Buchberger hit a 3-pointer, making it a nine-point edge. The Mountain Hawks increased their lead to 17 points with just over nine minutes remaining.

St. Francis rallied, closing within four points with 40 seconds remaining, but Carrington hit a free throw and Buchberger converted a pair to put the game out of reach.
