CHENEY, Wash. (AP)—Brandon Moore scored 14 points and snared 10 rebounds and Eastern Washington hit free throws down the stretch to hold off fast-charging Idaho 69-59 Monday night.
Benny Valentine shot 13, including 9-of-12 from the foul line, for the Eagles (3-1). Milan Stanojevic added 12 points.
Mac Hopson scored 25 points for the Vandals (2-3).
After leading by as many as 21 early in the second half, Eastern Washington saw Idaho storm back, pulling to within 63-57 after two foul shots by Hopson with 2:19 left. The Eagles were held without a field goal for nearly six minutes during that span.
In the final 1:03, Valentine hit four consecutive foul shots and Andy Genao added two more as the Eagles pushed the lead back to 12.
Eastern Washington used a 10-point run early in the first half and grabbed a 14-7 lead on a steal and layup by Stanojevic and never trailed after that.
Kashif Watson added 11 points for Idaho.
