Florida A&M tops Morehead State 79-74
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)—Joe Ballard’s 3-pointer with 1:21 remaining keyed a late run by Florida A&M as the Rattlers held off Morehead State 79-74 in the consolation game of the Billy Minardi Classic on Sunday.
Ballard finished with 11 points, including the 3-pointer and a free throw during Florida A&M’s game-ending 9-2 run, as the Rattlers (1-4) snapped a four-game losing streak. Lamar Twitty led Florida A&M with 18 points while Dale Hughes added 12 and David Buchanon scored 10 for the Rattlers.
Kenneth Faried had career-highs with 27 points and 24 rebounds for the Eagles (0-5). Leon Buchanan had 15 points and Terrance Hill chipped in 10 for Morehead State, which led 72-70 with 3:25 remaining.
Buchanon and Twitty each knocked down a pair of free throws to put Florida A&M back in front and Ballard followed with his 3-pointer to put the game out of reach.
