Rider comes from behind to beat Lafayette 84-77
EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Ryan Thompson scored 22 of his 25 points in the second half as Rider overcame a double-digit Lafayette lead for an 84-77 victory on Sunday.
Thompson also pulled down 11 rebounds for Rider (2-1), while Harris Mansell scored 20 points and Novar Gadson contributed 10.
Jeff Kari led Lafayette (2-2) with 21 points while Jared Mintz had 16, Ryan Willen scored 13 and Andrew Brown chipped in 11.
Rider jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held a 16-5 advantage before Lafayette went on an 18-5 run to take a 23-21 edge with 8:22 remaining in the first half. The Leopards held a 41-30 advantage at the break.
Lafayette led 67-52 when Thompson scored eight points of a 12-2 run to cut the margin to 69-64 with 5:35 remaining, and the Broncs later scored 15 unanswered points, including six by Thompson, to take an 83-76 lead.
