Longwood defeats Maryland-Eastern Shore 61-49
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP)—Kevin Swecker scored 17 points to lead Longwood to a 61-49 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday night.
Swecker shot 4-of-9 from the field, including 6-of-6 from the free-throw line for Longwood (3-2). Ryan Bogan scored 12 points and Dana Smith added nine.
Neal Pitt led the Hawks (0-2) with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Keishawn Mayes chipped in with 10 points and had seven rebounds.
After averaging 75 points over their first four games, Longwood struggled offensively, shooting 35.8 percent from the field (19-of-53).
The Hawks trailed 46-45 with 3:48 remaining, but the Lancers went on a 15-4 run to end the game.
