Rider edges Lehigh 69-68
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP)—Ryan Thompson converted a three-point play and Brandon Penn added a free throw, all in the final seconds, to send Rider to a 69-68 victory at Lehigh on Thursday night.
A layup and free throw by Thompson with 11 seconds left gave Rider a 68-66 lead, and a free throw by Penn with four seconds remaining made it 69-66 before Lehigh sophomore Rob Keefer scored at the buzzer for the final one-point margin.
Lamar Johnson led Rider with 20 points, Novar Gadson added 17, Thompson finished with 11 rebounds and 10 points and Mike Ringgold scored 11 for Rider (1-1).
Zahir Carrington scored 15 points, Rob Keefer added 11 and Phil Anderson 10 for Lehigh (2-1), which shot 10-for-38 from the field in the second half.
