Creighton cruises to 82-50 win
OMAHA, Neb. (A)—Cavel Witter led four Creighton players in double figures with 15 points in the Bluejays’ 82-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday.
Justin Carter added 13 points while Kenny Lawson and Kenton Walker each scored 10 for Creighton in a game that featured 50 total fouls, 59 free throws and 48 turnovers. The Jays, who tallied 18 steals in the game, scored the first five points and never trailed to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Creighton led 45-26 at intermission after scoring 15 consecutive points late in the opening half. It shot 53 percent from the floor (14 of 26) and hit 15 of 19 free throw attempts before the break.
Creighton got no field goals in the game from leading scorer P’Allen Stinnett, whose nine points came from the foul line. The Jays were 27 of 34 from the line.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-3) turned the ball over 16 times in the first half and 30 times in the game, leading to 31 Creighton points.
Terrance Calvin scored 15 points to pace the Golden Lions. He was the only Pine Bluff player in double figures.
