Maine tops Princeton 58-55 in overtime
PRINCETON, N.J. (AP)—Two free throws by Junior Bernal and another by Andrew Rogers in the final 1:31 of overtime provided the winning margin as Maine defeated Princeton 58-55 Wednesday night.
A layup by Princeton’s Max Huc tied the game at 55-55 with 1:50 remaining before Bernal was fouled on Maine’s next possession.
Bernal scored three points and Kaimondre Owes four as Maine (3-0) went on a 7-1 run in the final four minutes of regulation. Bernal hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 51-51 with 59 seconds left, and the game went to overtime after a Princeton turnover.
Doug Davis had 14 points to lead Princeton (0-2), while Dan Mavraides added a career-high 13.
Owes led the Black Bears with 11 points and Bernal had 10.
