Late free throw lifts Longwood 85-84

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP)—Ryan Bogan hit a free throw with five seconds remaining in the game to lift Longwood to an 85-84 victory over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night.

Bogan was fouled by Grayson Flittner four seconds after Gardner-Webb’s Aaron Linn tied the score at 84.

Dana Smith scored 18 points to lead five Longwood (2-1) players in double figures. Kevin Swecker added 14 points, followed by E.J. Dawson, Martiz Washington and Bogan with 11 points each.

Anton Silver led Gardner-Webb with 21 points and nine rebounds. Linn finished with 20 points, Flittner had 18 and Joshua Henley added 16 points for the Bulldogs.

Longwood took a 48-32 halftime lead, but Gardner-Webb opened the second half on a 17-6 run to cut the lead to 54-49 with 15:18 remaining.

The Bulldogs finally tied the game at 84 on Linn’s jumper with nine seconds remaining.
